DAVID SHELDRICK

(Elephant Rescue)

This Necklace Gives Back

We created this charity capsule collection to help raise funds for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Orphan Project; donating 30% of all proceeds going toward the growth of young elephants who have lost their parents to poaching, malnourishment or natural causes.

In 2018, we began to actively foster two orphan West African elephants, Malkia and Jotto, whose stories of perseverance continue to inspire the work we do.

Malkia

In 2016, Malkia was found standing vigil over her dying mother in the Dika Plains of Kenya. SWT quickly transported the mourning calf to their nursery so she could begin to heal. In honor of her mother, this little calf was named Malkia, which means "Queen" in Swahili.

Today, Malkia is happy, safe, and a mischievous ball of fire. As an official sponsor, we plan to provide regular Malkia updates on our website. Stay tuned!

Jotto

This infant bull was rescued after falling into a well in March, one of the hottest months of the year in East Africa. He suffered severe dehydration and malnourishment, but was completely transformed through the love and attention of his caregivers. The little bull was aptly named Jotto, which means "Hot Conditions" in Swahili.

Nowadays, Jotto is healthy, endlessly curious and loves to watch his nursery pals play. Keep an eye out for additional updates on Jotto on our website!
